Preparing For Your Procedure
Following your virtual consultation, we will help you schedule your surgery date and begin making arrangements for your visit. Our team is here to help with anything you may need to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible. During the lead-up to your surgery, our team will send you any necessary paperwork, and we can coordinate with a local provider should any lab work or other medical testing need to be done ahead of time.
We advise patients to arrive in Nashville at least one day before their planned surgery date. This allows us to schedule an in-person check-in where you can meet Dr. Amaka and your care team, review your treatment plan, discuss important recovery information, obtain your goodie bag of supplies, and ask any remaining questions you may have.
On the day of surgery, you will arrive at the facility at the designated time. From there, your care team will provide further instructions. Most procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, so you will likely return to your local accommodations the same day to begin your recovery. If you are traveling to Nashville by yourself, our team can help arrange nursing care for you, or we can potentially arrange to have you stay overnight in a hospital setting. This is arranged on a case by case basis.
Recovery and Follow-Up Appointments After Plastic Surgery
We ask that our traveling patients plan to stay in the Nashville area for at least 1-2 weeks after surgery, depending on the nature of the procedure(s) being performed. This allows our team to monitor your recovery and ensure the healing process is progressing smoothly. You will typically meet with Dr. Amaka a few days after surgery for your first postoperative check-in, at which point she can provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and give you clearance to drive or fly home.
Dr. Amaka has extensive experience working with patients who have traveled for plastic surgery, and she is continuously innovating new ways to make the process smoother and more effective. From drainless tummy tuck techniques to concierge after care and comfortable, high-quality compression garments, she strives to offer her patients the best possible experience from start to finish.
In most cases, the majority of your post-operative visits can be scheduled virtually. Ideally, Dr. Amaka prefers to schedule at least one in-person follow-up around 4-6 months after surgery, but she understands that this is not always possible for every patient. In cases where a complication or concern arises that cannot be addressed virtually, our team can help connect you with a more local provider who can provide an in-person assessment.
