Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a popular procedure among those interested in enhancing the size and shape of their breasts. Dr. Amaka offers a comprehensive selection of silicone and saline breast implant options, and she can help you select the ideal implant size, shape, profile, and placement for your aesthetic goals. As a fellowship-trained plastic surgeon, she possesses the necessary skill, expertise and experience to create beautifully proportionate breasts that elegantly accentuate a woman’s figure.

Depending on the size and type of implants chosen, Dr. Amaka can employ one of several different surgical techniques in terms of implant placement and incision. During the consultation process, she will thoroughly outline the options in order to help you make an informed decision.

Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery—also called mastopexy—is designed to elevate and reshape the breasts to produce a more perky and rejuvenated aesthetic. The breasts often begin to sag as a result of factors such as aging, pregnancy, weight loss, breastfeeding, and gravity. A mastopexy firms and tightens the tissue of the breasts while removing excess, inelastic skin in order to minimize ptosis (sagging and drooping), improve projection, and restore a more youthful breast contour. The nipple-areolar complex is usually also be lifted to a higher position on the chest wall, as needed.

Breast Lift with Implants

A breast lift with implants combines the volumizing capabilities of a breast augmentation with the lifting and firming effects of a breast lift to provide a comprehensive aesthetic rejuvenation of the breast. Ideal candidates for this procedure are typically those who wish to improve both breast position and shape while also increasing or restoring breast volume. Dr. Amaka can help you select the ideal implants and incision placements during the consultation process.

Fat Transfer to the Breast

Fat transfer to the breast is an innovative alternative to traditional breast augmentation with implants for patients seeking more subtle results using their own tissue. During this procedure, fat is harvested from another area of the body—often the abdomen, thighs, or back—before being purified and injected into the breasts. Since the fat is derived from the patient’s own body, this procedure is sometimes called “natural breast augmentation.” Many patients also enjoy the fact that the initial liposuction procedure can help reduce undesirable fat and improve the contours of other parts of the body.

“Dr. Amaka did my breast reduction and I am SO happy I chose her as my surgeon. I spoke to a few plastic surgeons in the Nashville area and Dr. Amaka was the only one who made me feel comfortable and taken care of.”

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction can help reduce the size and weight of excessively large or heavy breasts. Women with overly large breasts—a condition sometimes called macromastia—often report suffering both physical and emotional burdens. Common symptoms include back and neck pain, painful skin rashes, grooves in the shoulders left by bra straps, difficulty finding clothes and bras that fit correctly, and discomfort when exercising. A breast reduction from Dr. Amaka can help create a lighter, more proportionate bust, enabling patients to live more confident and active lives.

Breast Implant Removal

Breast implant removal (or explantation) is performed to remove breast implants for various reasons. As breast implants do cause some stretching of the skin over time, a breast implant removal is often combined with a breast lift and/or fat grafting. Breast implant removal can, depending on the anatomy and circumstance, result in a breast with loss of volume and/or sagging. This is where a breast lift and/or fat grafting comes into play to offset those changes.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is typically performed after breast cancer treatment in order to help patients regain the shape and overall appearance of the breast mound. This can oftentimes be an emotional process, and Dr. Amaka and her team aim to be compassionate and affirming partners in each individual’s healthcare journey. Each reconstruction is unique, as treatment is based on the type of mastectomy or lumpectomy performed. In some cases, breast reconstruction is also performed to correct congenital conditions or repair the breasts after trauma. The end goal is always to restore a natural-looking breast appearance while helping patients feel beautiful and confident.

Dr. Amaka has extensive experience working with breast cancer patients, and she has been awarded two grants from the Plastic Surgery Foundation in recognition of her pioneering efforts in the field of breast reconstruction. She can coordinate with you and your cancer care team to select the reconstructive technique and timeline that best suits your needs.
